Therapeutic Approach

I combine evidence-based strategies with a flexible, personalized approach—so therapy fits you, not the other way around.

My therapeutic approach is grounded in evidence-based treatment, emphasizing flexibility and collaboration. I’m trained in both psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). I work most often within “third-wave” CBT approaches, mainly acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), as well as incorporating skills from dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to help you build practical tools for daily life. While I often lean toward a behavioral focus, I also draw on the insights of psychodynamic work, notably ideas from interpersonal-relational theory and attachment theory. I believe there’s no single “right” way to do therapy. By integrating strategies from different approaches, I can adapt our work together to best fit your unique needs, goals, and values, so your therapy truly feels your own.

 FAQs

  • To get started, please use the Contact Me link at the top of this page, or email or call me directly. Once you share your contact information and a brief description of your presenting concern, I will typically respond within 24–48 hours. Before our first session, you will complete an intake packet, participate in a brief intake appointment, and, if using insurance, upload your insurance information to our secure platform, Headway. Once these steps are complete, we can schedule your initial session and begin our work together.

  • Insurance coverage depends on the type of service you’re seeking. Please refer to the Services section of this website, and click learn more, for details on which plans apply to each option. I also encourage you to contact your insurance provider directly to confirm your benefits. Before your first session, our administrative team will review your coverage to ensure everything is in place.

  • The length of time it takes to notice changes in therapy depends on your goals, the type of therapy, and your engagement in the process. For behavioral work, many people begin noticing improvements within the first 8–12 sessions. With biofeedback, results can sometimes be seen as early as the first 3 sessions, once the technique is mastered and applied in daily life. Insight-oriented therapy, on the other hand, tends to be a longer-term process, with growth and self-understanding developing gradually over time. Ultimately, therapy is an organic process—your progress will depend not only on what happens in our sessions, but also on the effort you put into applying new skills and insights between them.

In-person sessions are available only in New York City, where I am based. This is in accordance with state regulations and my supervision arrangement with Dr. Heather Davidson, who is licensed in both states.
